Foundation

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that we welcome Ms Kate Pryce to the Foundation team this semester.

In Term 3, Foundation students have been very busy and are even more settled about being at school. They are demonstrating growth and maturity in their approaches to learning, co-operation with peers and taking on responsibility. At this stage we encourage parents to help their children grow further by letting them be more independent; allowing them to be responsible for packing bags, discussing with them what is planned for the next day and trying to get them to remember if they need to do anything in particular for that day. Also have them carry their bags into the classroom during the morning routine, put away items and to take out items for the day. Young children are amazing little sponges, they can take on responsibility - as adults we need to give them this space.

We have now, very successfully, completed our six-week gymnastics program. Students were introduced to the sport and its foundation skills. They really benefited from the experience. They no longer need to wear their sports uniforms on Tuesday, they can return to wearing sports uniforms on usual sports day - i.e. Thursday for FB, Wednesday for FA and FC.

We reached a major milestone early this term: 100 Days of School! Students and teachers had a lot of fun celebrating and reflecting on the learning thus far. We had a tremendous effort from students for their vision of ‘100’. Students engaged in various activities on the day.

Recently, we also celebrated Numeracy and Literacy weeks. Once again, students engaged in various activities to promote and celebrate literacy and numeracy, and dressed beautifully in their favourite book characters.

We also had discussions and activities about Eid Al-Adha, and about NAIDOC week to learn about Indigenous Australians.

Finally, the Health Nurse forms and sealed envelopes were due by the 30th of August. If you have not yet returned this, please do so as soon as possible as the council nurse (Miss Rosie) will return to collect these.

We look forward to another amazing term!

Yours in education,
The Foundation Team
